Support Access to Outdoor Education, Today and for Generations
Support Balarat with a Donation
Your support helps ensure that DPS students continue to experience the wonder, challenge, and learning that the mountains provide. Balarat Council raises funds to sustain Balarat Outdoor Education programs, protect the land, and strengthen the community that makes Balarat possible.
There are two meaningful ways to give:
Make a gift from this page to support Balarat’s day-to-day operations and help meet students’ immediate needs, or
Make a lasting investment with a gift to our permanent endowment fund to protect Balarat’s future.
Every dollar donated to Balarat Council is used to support the students, staff and programs of Balarat Outdoor Education! Donations to our fund may be tax deductible, depending on your tax situation. Balarat Council is a recognized non-profit described in the I.R.S. Code 501(c)(3).
Examples of how your support can make an impact:
$5 — Helps put essential gear like water bottles—into students’ hands
$25 — Supports hands-on learning with materials students take home, such as field guides and journals
$50 — Builds/restores one nesting box for mountain bluebirds
$100 — Helps ensure students stay warm and safe by supporting Balarat’s winter weather gear bank
$250 — Supports stewardship of the land and plants 5 native Spruce trees on Balarat property
$500 — Helps equip learning spaces with teaching tools for immersive outdoor instruction
Donation levels reflect representative program needs. All gifts support Balarat Outdoor Education and are used where they are needed most to ensure access for Denver students.
Balarat Outdoor Education Legacy Fund
Contributions to the endowment help ensure that generations of Denver students will continue to learn and grow at Balarat for years to come.
“Balarat was the place I found direction and found what made me happy…
I was the shiest kid ever, but I signed up for Balarat and found out I wasn't actually shy. All that went away when I was working with kids and I just fell in love with being outside and knowing stuff about nature as a city kid. I found my voice. Fast forward from that experience and I got to be on the City Council for eight years where I grew up and now I get to be Leslie Knope for our city."
